Despite the blatant unfairness and, to be frank, irrationality, of the proposed changes to the legal framework surrounding personal injury claims, the government is determined to press on.

In fact the latest comments from the Ministry of Justice appear to put the scope of the reforms at a much higher threshold than that which was so worrying to so many practitioners, when the minister last week talked not about stopping fraudulent cases, but "unnecessary" ones.

For a government with a political ethos of removing regulation and letting the public act for themselves, this government has a worrying tendency to slip towards interfering when the profits of their friends in the insurance industry are threatened!
