According to new figures the number of private law cases (that is those for divorce, family finances or childcare arrangements) is rising whilst the numbers of cases successfully resolving at mediation is dropping.
The figures in fact reflect a number of factors, including the lack of awareness and understanding of the services available (which is the blame of providers and not customers) and also the point at which professionals make the necessary referrals i.e. only after weeks, months or years of argument, when it is already too late.
If you find yourself in a similar situation you should also make sure that you ask your solicitor for all of the available options at the very beginning and when less adversarial routes might actually work.
continuing rise in the number of new private law cases could signal that not enough divorcing couples are being channelled towards mediation, family law organisation Resolution has said.
