As we see the Court system 'adapt to the modern world' I cannot help but wonder who it is helping and what is really changing. The current programme of higher fees, less courts and further travel for parties does not appear to be making the lives of court users (both public and professional) any easier or cheaper.
At the same time you still cannot have audio conferencing for many issues, and video facilities which appear commonplace in daily life are utterly absent from most courts.
Question - who is adapting, and to what end?
he entire structure of the civil courts in England and Wales will come under scrutiny as part of a judge-led review. The judicial office today confirmed the terms of reference for a review led by Lord Justice Briggs which will produce an interim report by the end of this year.
